"Let Them Eat Cake!"

A certain French monarch may not have advised an entire population to "let them eat cake," but we were certainly inspired by the opulence of her reign...her grand and boisterous silhouettes, the sublime jewel and powder tones of her gowns and the century transcending je ne sais quoi air to her which have captured the imaginations of generations.

Designer's notes: I've spent the better part of my 20s in loungewear and pajamas - a sentiment I think which resonates with most in recent years. Having dreamed of a renaissance of the roaring 20's glamour, style and attitude towards a good soiree, then living through the last three years, I wanted to create a collection which would inspire us to dress up again.

However, sudden change can be unnerving, so we are easing into dressing up again... We've used cotton and modal knits to create super soft LBDs, chic tops and jumpsuits you could literally live (and if you must, lounge) in.

How is this collection keeping with the Firefly Promise of being Local, Ethical & Sustainable?

All of our knit garments were made with sustainably produced cotton & TENCEL™ Modal fiber. TENCEL™ branded Modal fibers are produced with sustainably sourced, renewable raw material wood, using an environmentally responsible process. These fibers are certified with the internationally recognized EU Ecolabel, an environmental quality label only awarded to products and services which have a significantly lower environmental impact throughout their entire lifecycle. TENCEL™ fibers also use 80% less water than other natural fabrics to produce, eliminating the negative environmental impacts of traditional fiber processing, using new sustainable technologies.

All of our printed garments were made with 100% recycled polyester georgette. The prints were designed by a local Edmonton artist and printed on to the fabric using sublimation - the most eco-friendly method of printing existing today, using zero water and creating zero waste.

The collection was created through small batch production, primarily on a made to order basis, by our small studio in Sri Lanka.
